How does post-secondary education fit into the Security and Prosperity Partnership?
There is a single reference to education in the Prosperity Agenda developed by Canadian, American, and Mexican diplomats.
I visited Washington D.C. in February and asked several post-secondary stakeholders about this clause: What kinds of expanded partnerships can students expect? Are these partnerships with corporate donors and other private interests? Does it simply mean increased student and faculty exchanges?
No one could even speculate about specifics. This just wasn't on the education agenda at the time.
The world's eyes will be on New Orleans April 20-22 as three North American leaders gather to discuss next steps for the Security and Prosperity Partnership. I will use this blog as a means of reporting on both the North American Leaders' Summit and a grassroots counter-conference known as the People's Summit.
Meaghan Walton and I will be travelling to New Orleans with the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa's delegation and reporting on location.
